- All of the PC clone motherboards have a standard can-style battery soldered
- directly to the board. ALL of them. I've seen some old mutant IBM 286's
- with a separate battery case... but the cheapest way to make a computer
- (which is what the clone people do) is to solder the battery directly to
- the main board.
